New Millers beat Clayton West 6-2 on Wednesday in this week's stand-out fixture in the Division 1 programme. That means that they have now beaten the two teams immediately above them in the table and they will expect to launch their bid for a top-two place over the coming weeks. The only match they have lost this season was against the leaders, Lower Hopton, and that was on a very wet green some will claim was unsuited to their game. That result means that Kirkheaton Con, who were on a bye-week, hang on to second place for now but there are just 4 points between the 4 teams chasing that 2nd place.
Lower Hopton dropped points for a second week but still overcame Thorpe Green 'A' 6-2 but with only a 5-point aggregate gap (56-51) between the two teams to extend their lead at the top of the table to 8-points.
Lowerhouses 'A' jumped two places in the table after an 8-0 win over Milnsbridge 'A' who were the highest-scoring losers on the day so surprisingly denied any points at all. That was doubly damaging as that loss condemned the Milnsbridge side to the second relegation place just above Rastrick 'A' who are still looking for their first win of the season after going down 0-8 to a rampant Lindley BC 'A' team who remain in fifth place despite only being beaten by the top two teams in the table so far. The highlight result of that match being the 21-2 Pairs win for Glynis Philbin and Sue Scott.
