I started my Monday at Netherton Con for the Division 4 fixttures but decided to move on after not winning the raffle again this week so I took a 10-minute drive to Primrose Hill Lib looking forward to 90-minutes of Division 4 action, a good brew and the house specialty, buttered scone. But the first thing I notice was that there was only three jacks on the green which indicated that something was amiss with one of the matches. The Huddersfield Recreation Club A vice-captain cornered me to point out that his team had completed their three games within 90-minutes and were ready for home at 12.30pm.
A 21-0 win for Trevor Atkinson of the Recreation Club was followed by two 5-21 wins for their opponents, Primrose Hill Lib, and all concluded in half the time you would normally expect the three games to take. That result kept the homesters at the top of the table but their nearest challengers for the title, Elland WMC, slipped up when being held by relegation-threatened Lindley Lib C to an unexpected 4-4 draw. That slip up cost them their grip on the second promotion place as Netherton Con A moved above them after a 6-2 win over Linthwaite Hall A.
Those points for the Lindley Lib C team eased them closer to safety and the team third from bottom, Brockholes A, who lost 0-8 to Milnsbridge B. The gap is now only three points with four matches left to play.

With 8-0 wins for the top two teams in Division 10 means no change at the top of the table apart from Thongsbridge and Rastrick widening the gap to the chasing pack to 13 points. It is looking increasingly likely that the top two teams will take the promotion places but which one of them will take the title? Interestingly the last day of the season sees the top two heavyweights going head-to-head in what could be a fitting climax to the season. Both teams clocked up their fourth 8-0 wins of the season on Monday with significantly the Rastrick win being over third-placed Skel Windmill A to damage their opponents promotion hopes.
At the same time Thongsbridge were inflicting an 8-0 win over the Outlane B side which further damaged any hopes they had of avoiding the drop this season. Brockholes D were the third team to register an 8-0 win this week and that saw them swap places with their opponents, Holmfirth B, who take over the second relegation place for now. Skel Windmill B had a good 6-2 win over Brockholes E to move within one point of their rivals and appear to be sat comfortably in mid-table.
