Winter League
Milnsbridge BC fit their Autumn green maintenance programme around the Winter League fixtures which sometimes leads to a clash. Milnsbridge President and Winter League bowler, Jim Baxter explains how this works and gives notice of some impending work this week.
At Milnsbridge we work with and take advice from James Hanson, the Grass Doctor on our green maintenance programme.
As we are now using the green in summer and most of the winter months regular work on the green is important.
Following advice from James we have today scarified the green and this will be followed by drainage work by a specialist contractor this Friday or Monday of next week.
We expect the green to still be usable but would advise all winter league teams that our green may not always be in prime condition.
Please bear with us as we believe that the work will bring medium and long-term benefits in green conditions for all bowlers.
Let’s hope that the weather is better next Wednesday than the wet one we have battled through.
