Preview of the Tuesday matches in Divisions 3,4&5 of the Veterans 10-Man League

The Division 3 leaders, New Mill A, will probably be the Champions very soon but it will not be this week. A 12-point lead at present doesn't guarantee the title but a big win on Tuesday at Kirkheaton C&BC A will go a long way in securing it. Linthwaite Hall will settle for the 2nd promotion place but will need to shake off the Brockholes A challenge first. Both teams have home fixtures against mid-table opponents this week and both will expect to win.

At the foot of the table, 6 points separate 5 teams all engaged in the relegation fight. Two of those 6 go up against each other this week as Slaithwaite host Paddock I&C and with one point between them neither can afford to lose.

Kirkheaton Con B are the Division 4 leaders but may need that 5-point cushion this week as they have a tough away encounter at third-placed Huddersfield RUBC. Marsh Lib are their nearest rivals but they have only won two away matches all season and they were both against bottom three opposition so with a Tuesday away match at mid-table Meltham will be treading new territory if they want to push the leaders all the way.

Bottom of the table Brockholes B could have their relegation confirmed this week if they lose out to fellow strugglers David Brown Sports. It is a Bottom 4 concentration this week with Ravensknowle Park and Lockwood Con also facing each other and again the Park need to win this match to stave off relegation worries for another week.

The two teams locked on the same points total in Division 5 will be looking at their Tuesday opponents to examine their chances of stretching away at the top and Netherton Con B seem to have the advantage here. They take on bottom-of-the-table Almondbury BC B whilst Broad Oak B also have a winnable home meeting against Kirkheaton C&BC B. Whatever the outcome, it will not decide the title destination this week.

With 5 points between the bottom four teams there is still considerable interest in the remaining matches involving these teams. Three of those four have home fixtures this week with Almondbury BC B being the odd one out, and it is not just an away match that concerns them but the fact that it is at the table-topping Netherton Con B home as well.
