A review of the Division 2 matches played on Wednesday 19 January 2022

The closest result of the Division 2 matches played this week was the one with the least at stake as two mid-table teams had a 55-55 drawn aggregate score and a 5-3 win for Denby Dale over Jackson Bridge. That was only the third 5-3 scoreline recorded in any division this season. As a result neither team moved up or down in the revised league table and both seem to be on course for mid-table security.

Meltham remained on course for the title with a 6-2 victory over Thorpe Green 'B' when surprisingly the leaders lost one of the singles games. Having played 24 singles this season they were losing one for only the third time so well done to the Thorpe Green 'B' captain David Blackburn but despite those two points his team remains in sight of the relegation drop zone so still plenty to play for.

The meeting of the bottom two teams saw Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' beat Paddock I&C 6-2 to maintain their hopes of avoiding the dreaded drop and are now just 2 points behind Almondbury BC who lost 2-6 at Lindley Lib.
