A review of the Divisions 1&2 Veterans 10-Man League matches played on Tuesday 16 April
Only four fixtures were played in Division 1 this Tuesday with Marsh United A hitting top spot with a 6-3 home win over Lockwood Con A who move into second place in the early table. Newly promoted Lindley BC A recovered from last week's home defeat in emphatic style with a 7-2 away win at Longwood to move them into third place.
Rastrick and Lowerhouses both picked up their first wins of the new season with home wins over Clayton West (6-3) and Netherton Con A (7-2) respectively.
The three teams relegated to Division 2 at the end of last season continue to lead the charge back to the top level with Meltham A continuing to show in front. An 8-1 away win at Shepley really announced their arrival on the promotion scene as they open up a three-points lead over Elland C&BC.
The Elland outfit made it two wins from two matches with a 6-3 victory away at Thongsbridge A. Milnsbridge A did lose 3-6 away at Golcar Lib B but stay in the top three and very much in contention.
New Mill A made it two 5-4 wins in their first two matches with an away success at Linthwaite Hall to feature strongly in the top half of the table. That result left Linthwaite Hall at the foot of the table alongside Shepley. The two Almondbury teams had good days with a 6-3 home win over the much-fancied Lindley Lib A side for Almondbury BC A and then the Liberal team winning away 5-4 at Broad Oak A where a 121-123 aggregate difference proved key.
