Lorraine retains Enid Blackburn Memorial Trophy

Lorraine Hirst won five games on Sunday to retain the Enid Blackburn Memorial Trophy she won last year.

The annual competition staged at Linthwaite Hall attracted 28 entries.

In the final Lorraine beat fellow county player Jasmine Kendall 21-17.

Lorraine is now eligible to compete in the BCGBA Ladies Champion of Champions competition at the end of the season.

Quarter final results: Suzie Ladbroke 21 Karen Gant 14, Chelsea Gilbert 8 Lorraine Hirst 21, Julie Best 14 Jasmine Kendal 21, Linda Drury 18 Linda Gledhill 21.

Semis: Ladbroke 18 Hirst 21, Kendal 21 Gledhill 13.

Enid’s son Howard presented the trophy and prizes.

An additional trophy was presented to Lorraine to mark the 20th running of the event and also it would have been Enid’s 90th birthday
