Winter League
The preview of Division 2 fixtures to be played on Wednesday 1 December
The two teams that have topped the Division 2 table at different times this season meet up this Wednesday when Springwood 'A' take on the current leaders Meltham. Meltham have very much set their sights on promotion to the top tier for next season and already have a 15 point lead over 3rd placed Springwood 'A'. The Springwood approach is more about sharing out the winter bowling experience which is also producing a result with the likely addition of a third club team for next season. That doesn't mean that they wont be competitive as their three 8-0 wins from five starts testify to and being 9 points off the second promotion spot with a game in hand is sufficient incentive to sharpen their competitive edge.
At the other end of the table a group of four teams is emerging from which the two relegated teams are likely to come. Eight points currently separate these teams and two of them meet up this Wednesday when Thorpe Green 'B' and Paddock I&C are due to meet. The two teams are locked together on 10 points and both have lost their last two matches so it is down to the team with the best recovery rate who could prevail.
Bottom of the table Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' will do well to take any points off Jackson Bridge who have a bit of a hit & miss record having twice lost to teams below them in the league table but with the Recreation Club looking for their first win of the season it would be a surprise to see any other result than a win for the Bridge.
Denby Dale will be hoping to prise themselves out of that relegation-threatened group of four by taking points off Almondbury BC this week who have won their last two matches to sit comfortably in mid-table now.
