Review of the Division 1 fixtures played on 24 November
Lower Hopton saw off the latest threat to their supremacy in Division 1 by beating nearest challengers Kirkheaton Con by a whitewash 8-0 scoreline on Wednesday. So with just one match to go before we reach the halfway point of the season Lower Hopton have a firm grasp on the new Founders Cup trophy although I am sure that they are not thinking that way at all. Prior to the match both teams had two bowlers in the top five in the division's averages. This week's results have changed that dramatically as now there are no Kirkheaton bowlers in the top 7 whilst there are now 3 Lower Hopton bowlers in the top five.
Rastrick 'A' continue to find life at this level very difficult and they still await their first win of the season after losing out 0-8 to Clayton West this week. That win takes Clayton West's halfway record to 4 wins and 4 defeats and in the probable false position of second in the table.
The other two matches were both drawn 4-4 with Milnsbridge 'A' taking a commendable four points off the New Millers although they still sit in a relegation spot but more performances like this one will soon see them move up the table. The other drawn match was more predictable as there was just a single point between the 'A' teams of Lindley BC and Thorpe Green. That remains the gap with Thorpe Green sharing the points after edging the aggregate 55-54.
