Late rainfall means Springwood is off

Winter League
A positive green inspection on Tuesday afternoon gave the all-clear to the Wednesday Division 3 fixture programme. Unfortunately there was a downpour in Springwood overnight and when the teams turned up they were confronted by a hard green that hadn't allowed the rain to penetrate and then to make things worse temperatures had dipped to freeze the rain water. In places the green was like a skating rink and despite their best efforts of the Springwood team and others, the ice won and the matches were called off.
With the two other Wednesday fixtures already postponed at Milnsbridge and Lindley Lib that means we have lost 7 days of bowling this week already and Storm Goretti has still to put in an appearance which is forecast for tomorrow. We are not expecting a decision on bowling at Netherton Con (Division 6) or Huddersfield RUFC (Division 7) until tomorrow morning but both are playable today so hopefully there will be some action before Goretti arrives.
The only rearranged fixtures to date is today's Division 3 programme from Springwood which will now be played on Wednesday 4 February. Bowlsnet has been updated to reflect this change. This means that the Winter Cup Division 3 Qualifying Round will also slip back a week to Wednesday 11 February.
