Review of matches in Division 3 played on Thursday 4 November
The full set of Division 3 fixtures postponed because of a waterlogged green on Monday took place on Thursday in spasmodic sunshine on a good Thorpe Green playing surface and produced some surprise results.
The final two Division 3 unbeaten records were broken this week when Rastrick 'B' and Lindley BC 'B' both lost for the first time this season. The table-toppers from Rastrick 'B' was a much-changed team from that which had opened their season so brightly and they lost 2-6 to a Brockholes team improving with every game. The win for Brockholes pushed them up two places in the table to third place. Despite that defeat, the Rastrick side retained their number one spot although 3 teams can draw level with them now with their games in hand, so that makes things interesting at the top.
The Lindley BC 'B' team lost their unbeaten record to Milnsbridge 'B' again by a 2-6 scoreline but with the closest aggregate score (41-45) of the day. Only one team is still looking for their first win of the season and Springwood 'B' failed to dent that record when losing to Dalton 2-6. Springwood will not be too down-hearted about that record as their well-stated objective has been to introduce as many club bowlers to winter bowling as possible and they are certainly doing that with 12 different bowlers already representing their team in their first four matches, that is 4 more than any other team in any of the three divisions.
Only the leaders have beaten Lowerhouses 'B' this season and they maintained that record with a 6-2 victory over the Recreation Club 'B' side this week. That win took them into second place and definitely into the promotion mix.
