Insurance 2023 now due

Clubs and Leagues' Public Liability Insurance (PLI) cover is now due as the policy cover has now changed to a calendar year. The cost of the cover has now increased from £49 last year to £51.12 for 2023. You can get a quote and sign up to the service online through the BCGBA website.

The scheme is BCGBA approved and provided once again by Endsleigh Insurance along with Sportscover. Previously the scheme ran annually from May but that has now all changed. With a lot of clubs now competing in winter leagues the PLI cover needs to match that. Teams are not covered after 1 January 2023 but you will not get a reminder from the insurance company that your cover is about to expire.

You need to visit the BCGBA website, get a quote and then sign up. You can complete all the paperwork and make payment online. Your members expect to have this minimum level of cover and the BCGBA and Yorkshire CCGBA will demand it. The policy covers clubs for up to £5million PLI cover.

You will need your BCGBA number to sign up for the BCGBA scheme and I found this on last year's cover policy under 'Policy Reference'. Your number will probably start with the characters YOR-.

Last year I shopped around for an alternative policy. I eventually found two companies that were prepared to offer a policy. One quoted over £100 and the other over £200 and neither scheme was specifically tailored to bowling, or even any sport so I had serious doubts that they were fit for purpose and certainly they were not competitively priced.
