Holders out of the Julie Fuller Trophy

Veterans League

No real shock results in the Round of the Last 16 of the Julie Fuller Trophy although a number of teams had to dig deep to force their way through to the Quarter-Finals. The reigning holders of the competition did go out with Netherton Con losing 46-52 in an all-Division 1 tie against Brockholes A. Having won their League encounter on Monday the Brockholes team completed a three-day double over their opponents to set up a quarter-final tie against Division 2 team Milnsbridge B. The Milnsbridge B team was involved in the closest result of the round as they edged it past fellow Division 2 side Almondbury Lib 67-66.

Milnsbridge A benefitted from playing a second consecutive round on the same green with a 65-45 victory over Bradley & Colne at Kirkheaton Con. That was after beating Marsh Lib on the same green in the previous round. Division 1 leaders Skel Windmill A didn't fair as well from a similar situation as they lost out to Waterloo 44-63 at Holmfirth having beaten Crosland Moor 61-43 in the previous round on the same green two weeks earlier.

Regulation wins for Marsh United A, Golcar C&BC, New Mill and Slaithwaite all saw the higher placed teams prevailing with Marsh United A recovering the biggest handicap deficit of 14 to beat the Brockholes B team. The quarter-final line-up is below although the neutral greens have still to be confirmed although Milnsbridge shouldn't expect a third successive tie on the same green, should they?
