Review of the results from Divisions 4 & 10 played on Monday 2 February

One round of Division 4 fixtures still to be played and the only confirmed point is that Huddersfield Recreation Club A are relegated. That is confirmed after Lindley Lic C beat them 6-2 on Monday to preserve their own survival hopes a little longer. However their final fixture next Monday is against the leaders, Primrose Hill Lib, who still haven't clinched promotion. On a day when all four fixtures ended with a 6-2 scoreline we are down to two candidates for the second relegation place. Brockholes A could avoid the drop with their final match against Linthwaite Hall and Lindley Lib C needing to take four points off the leaders.

Similarly at the top of the table as Primrose Hill Lib, Elland WMC and Netherton Con A remain in contention for promotion. Elland's 6-2 win over Brockholes A pushed them right back into the promotion push with the Netherton team going down to the same scoreline to the leaders on Monday. The climax of the promotion chase will be decided next Monday when the Elland and Netherton teams go head to head with the ultimate prize of promotion with Elland in poll position needing 3 points to complete the move up.

Primrose Hill Lib can only be denied promotion if they lose their final match 0-8 and if Netherton beat Elland 6-2 to send them both up on better Aggregate for totals. All highly unlikely but that is what can happen in bowling.

Rastrick and Thongsbridge both completed 8-0 Divison 10 victories on Monday to secure top two finishes but which one of them will take the title? One point separates them with two matches still to go and every thing to play for with the February 16 final day meeting of the top two being a fitting climax for all the new starters in this division.

Things remain open at the foot of the table with the bottom four teams all still in range of taking the two relegation places. All lost their Monday matches this week and with no easy fixtures coming up the final order may remain unchanged but who knows?
