Getting tighter at the top of Division 3

Winter League

Review of Division 3 matches played on Monday 15 November

As the teams went into the latest round of Division 3 fixtures just 4 points separated the top 3 teams. After the conclusion of those matches that gap had narrowed to only 2 points between the same top 3 teams. With 8-0 wins for Brockholes and Thorpe Green 'C' and with the leaders, Rastrick 'B' dropping two points to Springwood 'B' means that it becomes a little more congested at the top.

That two points for Springwood 'B' was just reward for their efforts against the leaders and with 53 points they were the top-scoring losers of the day which will give them heart as they go into future matches against lower-rated opponents and a first win cannot be too far away.

Thorpe Green 'C' beat Milnsbridge 'B' by 8-0 to swap places with them and go fourth and are only 6 points off of the top place so well in contention. That was a disappointing end to a good run for Milnsbridge following a run of three consecutive 6-2 wins, If they had won 8-0 instead of losing 0-8 then they would have gone to the top of the table such is the closeness of the level of the teams.

It is interesting to note the closeness of all the 12 individual matches in this week's list with no single-figure wins in any of the games with 21-12 being the biggest win of the day showing a consistent level of competition.
