Lindley Lib maintained their push for promotion with a fifth straight win this time by 6-2 over Springwood 'A' which leaves them 8 points behind the leaders Meltham, who were without a match this week. It also gives them a 9 point cushion over Springwood in third place who in turn have a 10 point advantage over their nearest challengers Denby Dale. So they are all well spaced out at the top of the table and it is going to take more than one good result to change that pecking order.

Denby Dale continue to get away from the lower regions with a third consecutive win this time an 8-0 whitewash win over Paddock I&C. Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' collected their second win of the season with a 6-2 victory over Thorpe Green 'B' and that puts them just 2 points behind their opponents as things begin to tighten up at the bottom of the table.
A whitewash defeat for Paddock I&C this week sees them now 10 points adrift at the foot but after that it becomes a little congested with just 4 points between the next 3 teams who are all in the frame for relegation. Almondbury BC went down to Jackson Bridge 2-6 to extend their losing run to 3 matches and that puts them firmly back in the relegation tussle and just two points ahead of Thorpe Green 'B' who now have a run of 4 matches against teams above them in the table so points will be at a premium.
So whilst there are no reasons to question the running order at the top of the table things nearer the bottom are very much up in the air. It may well benefit Paddock I&C to drop a level to regroup and enjoy an easier programme of matches next year but for Thorpe Green 'B' and the Recreation Club 'A' teams it would be a blow to join their 'C' and 'B' teams respectively in the lower division. One thing you can be sure of is that the results will sort it all out and as they say 'the table never lies' come the end of the season but in the meanwhile there is everything to play for.
It is the half-season point in the Division 2 programme so time to undertake a Half-Term Report on all matters on and off the green and that will be online tomorrow.
