Review of the Veterans 6-Man League fixtures played on Monday 13 July

Division 1 leaders, Clayton West A, scored the maximum 105 aggregate points to earn a 7-0 win and extend their lead to 6 points over Broad Oak A and Marsh United A who both collected 5-2 wins to remain firmly in the chase. The leaders comfortably beat relegation-threatened Thongsbridge A. Bottom-of-the-table Skel Windmill A lost at home to Marsh United A to close the gap on Thongsbridge A but both teams continue to occupy the relegation places. Broad Oak A's record of scoring more wins than the leaders was maintained with a 5-2 home win over Shepley A who ensured they are clear of immediate danger.
Fourth-placed Waterloo just missed out on a maximum win but collected 6 points from their home win over Golcar C&BC whilst the closest scoreline of the day (88-87 aggregate) saw Milnsbridge edge the result 4-3 away at Slaithwaite. Netherton Con A confirmed their position of superiority over Lindley Lib A by beating them 5-2 to round up the Monday action.

Brockholes B may be bottom of the table but showed signs of a brighter second half of the season after taking two points off the Division 2 leaders, New Mill A on Monday. That result did no harm to their A team's clubmates' chances of overhauling the leaders as they produced a worthy 5-2 away win over Lockwood Con. That outcome enabled Almondbury Lib and Holmfirth A to overtake the Lockwood Con team although offering little threat to the top two at present.
Longwood were the division's top scorers of the day to register a 6-1 home win over Marsh Lib A but remain 6 points and one place behind them in the table. Denby Dale lost an eighth consecutive match when going down 2-5 at Paddock I&C but Milnsbridge B lost the opening to widen the gap to the relegation places by losing 2-5 at home to Holmfirth A.

There were four 7-0 scorelines from the six Monday fixtures in Division 3 with Broad Oak taking the honours with the 7-0 whitewash away win at Marsh Lib B. That was a 3rd 0-7 defeat for the bottom team in their last four fixtures to leave their future looking bleak.
The other 7-0 scores went to the three teams now occupying the top three positions as Thongsbridge B continue to set the pace with an 11 points lead over Hemplow A with Golcar Lib B leapfrogging Crosland Moor into third place after beating them on Monday. Two away points for Elland C&BC at Lindley Lib B lifted them off bottom place whilst Linthwaite Hall had a good 5-2 away win at Greenhead Park.

One result is still outstanding as I write this review of the Division 4 Monday fixtures. Whatever the outcome was, the placings at the foot of the table will remain unchanged as Brockholes D cannot catch any of the teams above them in the table in a single match. Shepley remain safely out of reach and 8 points ahead of the bottom team despite their latest 2-5 home defeat at the hands of the table-topping Netherton Con B side.
The Netherton team sit 14 points ahead of their closest rival, Meltham, who were beaten 2-5 by Marsh United B. A very good 6-1 away win for Greenhead Park B saw them overtake the team they beat, Holmfirth B, and Brockholes C had a good 5-2 away win over the team three places above them in the table, New Mill B.
