First defeat for Division 6 leaders

Review of all the results of the Division 6 matches played on Thursday 8 January

Most of the Division 6 teams returning to action at Netherton Con after the Christmas break were pleased to be there with one exception. A first defeat of the season for the leaders Cowcliffe B was as unexpected as the fact we had any action on the green at all. The fact that they were beaten 2-6 by mid-table Outlane A was another surprise from a day when neither of the top two managed a win. Second-placed Brockholes B were held to a 4-4 draw by Almondbury BC A and it could have been worse as only a 55-54 aggregate win for the Badgers saved them from a second defeat of the season.

Those two results didn't impact on their positions in the table despite third-placed Springwood C having an 8-0 win over Hanging Heaton B who dropped into the relegation places as a result. It was a good day for the Springwood teams as their B team also had an important win overcoming bottom-of-the-pile Netherton Con B to move out of the drop zone for now.
