Winter League A preview of the season's last day of Divisions 3 & 4 fixtures on Monday
All matters are finalised at both ends of the Division 3 table with Hanging Heaton the Champions and Marsh United being promoted along with them. Paddock I&C and Primrose Hill Lib are going down with Dalton taking the third from bottom place which could be a third relegation place should the expected reorganisation of the divisions take place.
Hanging Heaton will be presented with their Champions trophy before the start of play on Monday but who will take the division's top bowler award has still to be finalsed. Marsh United's Andy Carter is in pole position and in a contest decided by the most wins he only needs to win his final match to claim the title. However the table below shows that a trio of Hanging Heaton bowlers are poised to pounce should Andy have any final-day nerves to affect his form and his title chances. All three of them have a better Average Difference than Andy which is the second determining decider making the win paramount for him.
Thorpe Green C are the Division 4 Champions and have the final day of the season off with the satisfaction of a second successive title success to add to last year's Division 5 achievement. But who will be promoted along with them has still to be finalised.
Three teams remain in contention although it would take a series of fluke results for Netherton Con A to rise to the top. We are realistically looking at New Mill B or Lowerhouses B with the former in pole position and it is their position to throw away. If New Mill B win their final match against already-relegated Almondbury BC A then they will win promotion. Anything less would open the door for Lowerhouses B to sneak through on the rails and they are certainly the form team having only been beaten once in their last 12 fixtures. But they shouldn't expect their final-day opponents Lindley Lib C to provide cannon fodder for any late charge. Netherton Con A will be praying for that set of fluke results to materialise but they have to play their part by beating Milnsbridge C by 8-0 to trigger that series of results.
Matters at the foot of the table are already finalised with Almondbury BC A and Springwood B filling the two relegation places and Kirkheaton C&BC still hoping to avoid the third from bottom placing which could also lead to relegation. They meet Springwood B aiming for a whitewash finale to give them a chance of overhauling Lindley Lib C who were promotion candidates before losing 4 of their last 5 matches to slip out of the running.
The Division 4 Top Bowler award rests between three bowlers with New Mill B's Stuart Greaves set for the honour if he wins his final match of the season on Monday. That will secure the title based on his most wins record ahead of Kirkheaton C&BC's Mick Boyles and last year's winner Steve Lee of Lowerhouses B.
