Division 8 Winter Cup qualifiers

Winter League

There were only seven entries in the Division 8 Winter Cup Qualifying Round played at Lockwood Con yesterday on a bitterly cold day which produced a snow flurry late in the proceedings. There is something entirely appropriate about it snowing for the opening round of the Winter Cup.

Matches were played in good spirits with a background of children playing in the neighbouring school playground. From there a loud noise erupted to greet the snow flurry and when I asked a local bowler what was significant to the children about that, he informed me that the children were hoping to be sent home from school. However the snow only provided a short dotted covering to the green before normal service was resumed and that was never going to force a school closure in Yorkshire.

A number of close scores in three of the five matches played, with all the results and the two qualifiers to progress through to the Round of the Last 20 on Sunday 29 March listed below.
