Veterans League
A preview of the fixtures for Tuesday 11 June in Divisions 3, 4 & 5 in the 10-Man League
After pushing the Division 3 leaders all the way last week, Springwood will be trying to do the same this week to 2nd-placed Elland WMC. Eventually going down 4-5 to reduce Denby Dale's lead over the chasing pack and something similar this week would improve on their lowly position in the table.
With the added bonus of home advantage Springwood will need every point going to keep their hopes alive of avoiding the relegation places. With that improved form and a 100% home win record they will fancy their chances of another good performance against a top team.
Denby Dale have a local derby match against Skel Windmill who sit in 8th place but only one point off a relegation place so every point is vital to both teams. Brockholes A will be looking to bounce back from a 4-5 defeat at Holmfirth last week but that won't be easy against a Lindley Lib B side one place behind them in the table.
Only 4 points between the bottom 5 teams at present with bottom-placed Thorpe Green heartened by last week's first win of the season. They will go to Slaithwaite with realistic hopes of adding to that initial win against a team now firmly in the relegation battle. After four successive away defeats Holmfirth A have to go to Outlane this week to take on an inconsistent home team.
The leading two teams in Division 4 meet up at Lockwood Con this Tuesday where leaders Kirkheaton C&BC A are the visitors. Lockwood Con B will be hopeful of swapping places with their guests with only a 2 points gap between the teams.
Milnsbridge B are poised to take advantage of any slip-ups or tight encounters involving the top two and they have a home match against relegation-threatened Thongsbridge B which could provide that platform for them. Huddersfield Recreation Club are on their best run of the season with three straight wins as they welcome RUBC to their Moldgreen home. Two teams on the same points total but two places apart meet at Marsh United where Ravensknowle Park are the visitors.
Four of the bottom five teams play each other in what could be key matches in the relegation struggle. Bottom-of-the-table Lindley BC B have to go to play Meltham B who will be aiming for a win to keep them away from the drop zone whilst Marsh Lib have home advantage over fellow strugglers Brockholes B.
Netherton Con B will be looking to make it eight Division 5 wins on the trot when entertaining Primrose Hill Lib who have won their last four matches so will be no pushover that is for sure. David Brown Sports are 6 points behind the leaders in second place and play Greenhead Park this week. Dalton and Kirkheaton Con B have identical Won-4 Lost-3 records this season and are separated by one point in 3rd and 4th positions
One point separates the bottom five teams and the bottom two face each other as Holmfirth B host Almondbury BC B. They can't both win so it is likely that the loser will be bottom of the pile after this round is completed. However with Broad Oak B the only other of the bottom five playing away they could find themselves back in trouble after a great result last week saw them pick up four points and move up four places. That leaves the remaining two sides with home matches and they are New Mill B (v Hemplow B) and Greenhead Park (v David Brown Sports).
