Division 4 top two in title-decider

Winter League

Preview of the fixtures in Divisions 4&10 scheduled for Monday 2 February

Another winter Monday and that means it is time for some bowling from teams in Divisions 4 and 10 with a top attraction being the top-of-the-table clash in Division 4 as Primrose Hill Lib and Netherton Con A come together. Primrose Hill Lib have a two-point lead over the next two contenders, Netherton Con A and Elland WMC with just two rounds of fixtures still to be played. The Elland team could benefit from the top two taking points off each other allowing them to sneak through on the rails.

The last day of the season next week also shows an enticing line-up as Netherton Con A and Elland WMC come up against each other. Then if it should come down to 'Aggregate For' totals then Netherton Con are best placed to take advantage of that at present.

Equally as close at the bottom of the table where 2 from 3 are going down with Huddersfield Recreation Club in dire straits as a defeat on Monday to fellow-strugglers, Lindley Lib C, will relegate them. Seeing as the Recreation Club haven't won any of their last eight matches then things are not looking too rosy. The Lindley Lib team cannot afford to lose that fixture as their last day fixture next week is against the table-toppers Primrose Hill Lib who will still be fighting for title and promotion points at that time. Brockholes A sit between the two

co-strugglers and a match this week against Elland WMC isn't one they would have chosen however they did beat them on the opening day of the season so that may be a good sign.

Still four rounds of fixtures to go in the Division 10 programme with two of those scheduled for Monday and Tuesday this week. The top two of Thongsbridge and Rastrick are inching away from the chasing pack. With the next three fixtures very winnable for both of the teams it could come down to the last day meeting of the two main protagonists. That would be good for us unbiased observers.

At the foot of the table there is still lots to sort out although the form team of the bottom three is Outlane B who have won their last two matches whilst their major rivals cannot match that. If Outlane can get a few points from their match against Rastrick this Monday that should hold them in good stead as the run-in gets easier but does include a clash with their prime rival for survival, Brockholes D in a week's time.
