Division 3 & 4 leaders under pressure

Winter League

A review of matches play in Divisions 3 and 4 on Monday 14 November

The Division 3 and Division 4 leaders both stay at the top of their respective league tables but not without a scare as both were taken the full distance by their Monday opponents. Division 3 top team Brockholes 'A' edge past Paddock I&C 6-2 thanks to a 52-51 aggregate scoreline.

That enabled them to extend their lead as second-placed Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' were held to a 4-4 draw by Rastrick 'B' who stay third as a result.

Almondbury BC 'A' delayed, at least, any talk of a relegation battle by beating Dalton 6-2 to go just one-point behind their opponents and above Thorpe Green 'B' who were well beaten 0-8 by bottom-of-the-table Springwood 'B' who eased their plight but remain in the relegation places. It is getting quite tight in the nether regions with 5 points separating the bottom 5 teams and each of them beating each other at present.

In Division 4 top of the table Lindley Lib 'B' didn't win for the first time this season as they were held to a 4-4 draw by Marsh Lib who were returning to form after a couple of setbacks. With Kirkheaton C&BC whitewashing Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' 8-0 that halved Lindley Lib's lead at the top to four points. An interesting encounter between Milnsbridge 'B' and Netherton Con 'B' as they drew the aggregate 54-54 so shared the 2-points and came up with the rare 5-3 scoreline.

There was some very good bowling in the Lowerhouses 'B' versus Paddock I&C 'B' fixture with the former coming off best with a 6-2 win which retains their interest in matters at the top end of the table although the top two do seem to be driving a wedge between themselves and the rest of the pack at present.
