Preview of the Wednesday fixtures in Divisions 1 & 2
After the postponement of today's fixtures at Primrose Hill Lib we are hopeful that Wednesday's fixtures at Milnsbridge BC and Springwood BC will be going ahead as scheduled. Any changes to those plans will be added to the website as soon as we are informed.
It is exactly halfway through the season for all teams in Divisions 1 and 2 and the Division 1 teams play the reverse fixtures from the opening day of the season this week. That means that Lowerhouses A are without a match and will remain in the relegation places regardless of what happens in this week's fixtures.
Golcar Lib will be hoping to catch up some ground when they meet Clayton West who have lost their last two matches and have dropped out of the title race for the present. Kirkheaton Con A have only won one match to date and would really like to improve on that when taking on the leaders, Thorpe Green, this Wednesday.
The teams in third and fourth places meet up as Lower Hopton will be looking to reverse their opening day defeat to Lindley BC A when the two teams meet again. Both teams are on a good run of results leading up to the Christmas break with Lower Hopton running up four straight wins whilst Lindley BC A won their last three fixtures including one against the table leaders. Meltham and New Mill A have identical records of 2 wins from their last 3 matches as they go into this fixture against each other.
Division 2 leaders, Cowcliffe A, remain the only team in the League with a 100% win record but can expect a tough task when meeting 2nd placed Lindley BC B this Wednesday who will be looking to avenge an opening day 0-8 defeat. Any setback could see them overtaken by one or both of the 3rd and 4th placed teams, Milnsbridge A and Denby Dale, who go head-to-head as things warm up for the second promotion place.
Things are similarly close at the foot of the table although Lockwood Con A are in danger of being cast adrift unless they start picking up wins anytime soon. This week they take on Lindley Lib A who are in that group of four teams separated by four points trying to stay out of the 2nd relegation spot. Springwood A and Brockholes A are both in that quartet although Brockholes A are in the best form of that foursome having won their last two matches.
