Winter League

A preview of the Division 2 fixtures for Wednesday 10 November

Two teams looking for their first wins of the season meet up this Monday in the Division 2 fixtures at Springwood. New boys Paddock I&C take on Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' as both look to kick-start their season and move out of the relegation places they currently occupy. Difficult to forecast any outcome as both teams have used 8 different bowlers in their two matches to date but I am sure whichever line-up prevails both teams will be giving it their all.

The leaders, Springwood 'A', have the day off so offering the opportunity to Meltham to reclaim the top spot if they can get past Thorpe Green 'B' this week who will have been heartened by last week's first win of the season.

Lindley Lib will be looking to bounce back from last week's first defeat of the season when they meet the new boys from Almondbury BC who are another team that has used 8 different bowlers in their two matches so far. It is great to see so many bowlers getting the opportunity to try out winter bowling which is what happened last year leading to 5 'B' and 'C' teams being formed from the same clubs. What it doesn't help is forecasting results but that is immaterial.

After a bright start to the season, the new team from Jackson Bridge suffered a surprise reversal when going down for the first time to Thorpe Green 'B' last Wednesday. This week they play Denby Dale All the matches start at 12noon this Wednesday and every Wednesday with four jacks on the green at all times, one for each match. Spectators are most welcome and refreshments are available for all.
