Winter League
A preview of the Division 2 fixtures to be played at Springwood on Wednesday 19 January
Last week's win for leaders Meltham over Lindley Lib seems to have settled the title race for now with a 12-point gap appearing between the top two teams. However, that has now opened up the race for the second promotion place with Springwood 'A' appearing on the scene and they are just 3-points behind Lindley Lib. Fittingly the two teams will meet on the final day of the season but both teams will be striving to get things sorted before then starting with this week's round of fixtures.
Springwood are without a match this Wednesday so Lindley Lib will be looking to maximise their hold over them by repeating their earlier season 8-0 victory over this week's opponents Almondbury BC.
Meltham can slip into cruise control when taking on Thorpe Green 'B' this week although the Thorpe Green side has had a couple of good results in their last two matches against teams higher in the league than them. The same formula this week would be a surprise but that is always possible in our sport.
Denby Dale don't go into their match against Jackson Bridge in their best form having lost their last three matches so will be seeking a repeat of their result when the two teams met earlier in the season when a 6-2 win for the Dale was recorded.
It all takes place at Springwood from 12noon on Wednesday with a weather forecast threatening a dry day with sunny intervals and temperatures around 8C. Can't wait!
