Division 2 breakaway trio under pressure

Winter League

A preview of the Division 2 fixture programme from 12noon on Wednesday 18 November

A break-away trio at the top of Division 2 has opened up a 9-point gap to the chasing pack and two of that pack will be keen to reduce that gap, or even break into that group, when they take on top two opponents this week. Meltham and Springwood both have unbeaten records so far this season but those will both will be fully examined by Denby Dale and Jackson Bridge respectively this Wednesday.

Denby Dale are quite a predictive team as over the two seasons of Winter League bowling they have won and lost exactly the same number of matches. That has continued this year as they have won and lost alternate matches and it is their turn to lose this week, will they conform? Meltham will be pleased to hear that as they hope to extend their winning run to 5 matches this week and cement their place at the top of the division.

Second-placed Springwood 'A' are also unbeaten to date and they face up to Jackson Bridge who have already provided game time to 9 of their 10 registered bowlers this season. Springwood 'A' aren't far behind them having used 8 of their 9 registered bowlers so far.

Lindley Lib only have 5 registered bowlers and all 5 have already made their Winter League debuts and served their team well as they have only been beaten by leaders Meltham so far and that by the unique 3-5 scoreline. They have two 8-0 scorelines to their credit so far and will be a handfull for another new team in Paddock I&C who they face this Wednesday.

Finally this week there is the confrontation of the Recreation Club against Almondbury BC with the Recreation Club still looking for their first win of the season and some respite from their foot of the table position. It all starts at 12noon with a jack from each of the four matches in action at all times on the Springwood green.
