Preview of the Monday matches in Divisions 1&2 of the Veterans 10-Man League

Five Division 1 teams have the same Won-5 Lost-5 playing records this season and two of them face each other this Tuesday. It could also be a key fixture in the race to become runners-up to the inevitable racing-away Champions, Lowerhouses. Second-placed Rastrick have home advantage as they take on third-placed Clayton West who completely turned their season around after losing the opening four matches of the season.

Marsh United A find themselves at the foot of the table although they remain the only team to beat Lowerhouses this season. This Tuesday they have home advantage over Kirkheaton Con A. Lockwood Con moved off the bottom of the table after a remarkable 9-0 home win over Elland C&BC to follow up the 0-9 defeat at Rastrick the previous week. This week they take on a Longwood team with a game in hand over most of their rivals but who are only two points off the relegation places. With only 8 points between bottom and 3rd-placed teams, it is a really competitive division this season.

Division 2 leaders, Meltham A, will have to be at the top of their game if they are to come away with a 9th win of the season on Tuesday when they travel to play third-placed Netherton Con A. Sandwiched between these two teams sits Lindley BC A, who have an easier-looking fixture away to Broad Oak A, although they have only lost once at home all season.

Shepley are one of only two teams in the Division to have beaten the leaders this season so why do they linger in the bottom-three? Well, they haven't won an away match all season so welcome a home match this week against Almondbury BC A.

Hemplow A are really struggling at present and are 9 points from safety with a difficult-looking away fixture at Milnsbridge A this Tuesday. Almondbury Lib are also in that dropzone and will do well to pick up many points from their trip to play Thongsbridge A.
