Veterans League
The meeting of our Inter-District team with Halifax to determine the runners-up position in the 2022 competition went the way of Halifax yesterday who won the match 32-24 to clinch second place. Our team dropped to fourth place after Bradford beat Skipton 38-18 to move 5 points clear of us.
The home team drew 4-4 in games at Milnsbridge whilst the away side lost 2-6 on a very tricky green at Elland WMC. I was at this match and both teams struggled to master a green renowned for fast running conditions. It seems it wasn't at its fastest yesterday but both teams saw few bowlers mastering the art of pace and direction with generally any wood within a yard of the jack, producing points.
I noted that there was no match referee in attendance at this match and when querying that with Team Manager Alan Sharpe he told me that it was unusual but this was the second time that they hadn't had a match official this season after going without in the Bradford away leg as well.
