  • Meltham win for the first time this season

The top-of-the-table Division 3 clash went the way of the home side as Denby Dale beat Brockholes B 5-2 to close the gap to 3 points with a game in hand over the leaders. It was a convincing result as the Brockholes team could only muster an aggregate of 64 points which was the lowest total in any of the three divisions this week. That made it 8/8 wins for Denby Dale who now have a 9-point lead over third-placed Skel Windmill B.

Skel Windmill B climbed into third place but there will be no celebration as it came as a result of Greenhead Park B having a bye-week and losing out to bottom-of-the-table Meltham by 3-4. That being a first win of the season for Meltham who won the game count 3-2 and hung on in the aggregate totals to an 86-86 draw to chalk up that win which lifted them off of bottom place. That elevated position may be short-lived as Shepley B who now sit in that slot play on Friday at Brockholes C although they will need to win that match to move off the bottom.

One a day when all four Division 3 matches went the way of the home teams a 6-1 home win for Thongsbridge B saw them climb four places, from 8th to 4th, passing their Monday opponents, Primrose Hill Lib, and club mates Thongsbridge C along the way. Another 6-1 home win, this time for Holmfirth B, enabled them to pass their beaten opponents, Marsh United B, to go 8th from 10th spot.

All 7 fixtures in Division 1 were won by the home teams this week as the top two both won and the bottom four all lost so there were no changes in those key positions at either end of the table. Netherton Con were the only top 5 team to lose when going down 2-5 at Brockholes A who now sit one point behind their rivals.

Home wins for Waterloo (5-2 over Slaithwaite) and Golcar C&BC (6-1 v Lockwood Con) keeps both of them well in contention for end of season honours. The gap remains the same as Skel Windmill A and Marsh United A both had good home wins as well.

The surprise result in Division 2 was the 5-2 away win by Linthwaite Hall at Marsh Lib A. Only a second win of the season for Linthwaite Hall, their first away win. As a result Marsh Lib A drop from 4th to 6th whilst Linthwaite Hall remain in the relegation places but now with the four teams above them in range. The leaders, Golcar Lib, had a big 6-1 away win over Longwood to edge past Clayton West and go top on a better 'Aggregate For' total. Bradley & Colne pass New Mill into third place after a convincing 6-1 home win over them.

Elland C&BC continue to be favourites for a second consecutive relegation and are still looking for a first win of the season after a 2-5 home defeat to fellow strugglers, Hemplow. Greenhead Park A did themselves a lot of good by beating Milnsbridge B by 6-1 and they are now just a point behind their opponents.
