The Yorkshire team proved to be much too strong for the Wales team in the second round of matches in the BCGBA Senior Men's County Championship. Winning 11 of the 12 home games and also 7 away from home to clinch the match by an aggregate score of 469-380 to go ahead at the top of the Section 1 table.
Playing on the Rastrick green, the home team racked up a big win of 244-174 to set the ball rolling towards qualifying for the semi-finals and mounting a strong defence of the title they won last season. The away side won seven of their games and took the aggregate score by 225-206.
With the one match still to be played against the Cumbria team, who have lost both of their matches to date, it would take a massive change in results to deny the Yorkshire boys progressing to the knock-out stage of the competition. That all happens on Sunday 5 July. Not getting too far ahead and assuming nothing, but the likely semi-final opponents are North Midlands as they currently head the Section 2 table with one match to go. Scroll down for the latest tables of all four sections.
