In December Lindley Bowling Club on these pages shared their change in club membership fees which had dropped from £45 to £30. In a further attempt to attract new bowling members, the first year membership fee was dropped to £10. We wondered if your club is offering any enticements to attract new members or are fees rising?
Looking at my two clubs where I bowl in teams right through the season there is a £2 increase in fees at Kirkheaton Con as membership of the social club is £7 and annual membership of the bowling club is £13. My other club, Grange Moor, will not finalise fees until March but for the last 3 years they have stood at the same £25 per year with £1.50 per match levy as well.
It remains to be seen what impact the new £1 per annum per bowler charge that the BCGBA is proposing to levy on all clubs has on the membership fees but it certainly isn't expected to trigger any overall reduction.
