A review of the Division 2 matches played at Springwood on Wednesday 2 February
Meltham came perilously close to suffering their first defeat of the season as Jackson Bridge pushed them all the way before losing the aggregate 59-60 and the match 2-6. Only a second defeat of the season for the leader's Eddie Haigh opened up the competition with the Bridge's captain Robert Barlow claiming the prestigious scalp as his team only dropped 4 points all match so will feel robbed by a losing scoreline. That win for the leaders means that they only need 7 points from their final two matches to clinch the title and win promotion.

Lindley Lib would have loved to have seen a closer scoreline from the leader's match as they ramped up an 8-0 win over Huddersfield Recreation Club but that still sees them sit 10 points behind the leaders with two matches to play. That's a big ask and leaves them relying on Meltham faltering in one of their next two matches and that is something that they haven't done all season. Springwood 'A' already know that they cannot be overtaken by any of the chasing teams and so third-place is their guaranteed minimum final place. To climb any higher seems unlikely but this week's 6-2 win over Paddock I&C kept those hopes alive for another week.
Another close encounter with a 57-53 aggregate win for Almondbury BC which only got them a share of the points in their 4-4 draw with Thorpe Green 'B' this week.
