Review of Tuesday's Division 2 matches

Meltham's 'Great Escape' is rekindled after a 6-2 win over promotion-chasing Lindley Lib A this week pushed them to just 4 points behind the Marsh United team. The problem is that Marsh United are not making things any easier for them as they have realised the danger and have responded accordingly. A 4-4 draw with second in the table New Mill B adding to Marsh United's first win in seven on Monday has raised the survival crossbar. With 5 wins from their last 6 fixtures for Meltham shows that they can hardly do much more but both teams have to play the leaders Clayton West in their last three fixtures which may be crucial in splitting the difference between the teams.
Meanwhile, the stuttering of the prime challenges to Clayton West have fizzled out and they have now claimed the title after 6-2 win over a spirited Lowerhouses B team whose destiny now looks determined and they seem nailed on to make an immediate return to Division 2 for next season.
The Lowerhouses A team's bid for promotion has also ended up on the rocks after a third successive defeat, this time to Milnsbridge A, who are still some way off mounting their own real challenge to the promotion places despite New Mill B and Lindley Lib A both failing to grasp the opportunity to claim the 2nd promotion spot as their own.
