Champions need to step up a gear

Veterans League

Preview of the Veterans 6-Man League fixtures scheduled for Monday 15 April

Division 1 Match of the Day Marsh United A v Waterloo

The defending Division 1 Champions versus the new team in the top division who had a great opening day 6-1 win over last season's runners-up, Golcar C&BC. Should they chalk up another win this Monday to beat the top two teams from last season then that would send shockwaves through the Fantasy League pundits and a fair few bowlers as well.

Marsh United A need to overcome last Monday's shock defeat at promoted Netherton Con if they are to settle nerves in the Fantasy League and club HQ. They say it is harder to retain a title than win it for the first time and that may well be the case here.

Division 2 Match of the Day New Mill v Hemplow

The temptation was great to select a bottom-of-the-table clash as the focal point of this report. Especially with the bottom four teams playing each other either fixture could be built up to be a relegation decider.

However, with New Mill winning 7-0 away from home last week they appear to be building on their Division 3 Championship winning season and could become a major force in the 6-Man League. Hemplow were also promoted despite finishing 4th in the table and they did suffer a 2-5 double against New Mill last season. Should New Mill build on last week's win then a few heads would be turned

Division 3 Match of the Day

Brockholes B v Marsh United B

Two teams who opened the season with 6-1 wins going head-to-head who both finished last season in the bottom half of the table asks the question 'was that a one-off or is it the start of something good?'

Brockholes B only won two matches last season but something seems to be stirring in the Badgers world . A third team in the League this season and all three opened the season with winning scorelines.
