A preview of the Monday fixtures scheduled at Thorpe Green & Lindley Lib.
With the relegation matters at the foot of Division 3 now resolved with Almondbury BC 'A' and Springwood 'B' both dropping through the relegation trapdoor, attention can now turn to matters regarding title and promotion matters at the top of the table. Brockholes 'A' need one point from their last 2 matches to confirm promotion whilst another 12 points will give them the title.
They will expect to hit the first of those targets when they play Paddock I&C 'A' this Monday. Second-placed Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' will be watching the outcome with interest as they play Rastrick 'B' and need a big win to keep the pressure on the leaders with any narrowing of the 5 points gap setting up a grand final day of the season.
Even an 8-0 win for 3rd-placed Dalton over already relegated Almondbury BC 'A' this week may not be enough to keep them in the promotion picture. Six points for the Recreation Club will put them out of reach and destined for Division 2 bowling next season. Thorpe Green 'B' and Springwood 'B' can enjoy their match with nothing at stake for either team.
One point separates the top two teams in Division 4 with them facing the 3rd and 4th placed teams this week. The leaders Lindley Lib 'B' are on a four-game unbeaten run and they face third-placed Lowerhouses 'B' who could overtake them with an 8-0 winning scoreline, so there is a big incentive there. Milnsbridge 'B' are poised once again to take advantage of any slip up by the leaders and they face Kirkheaton C&BC this Monday. Milnsbridge won the early season meeting of the two teams by 8-0 and a repeat of that would surely take them to the top of the table.
Things are getting very desperate for the bottom two teams who are now seriously adrift of safety and the Recreation Club 'B' team will be relegated this week if they don't win their fixture against Marsh Lib. Even a win will not be enough if Netherton Con take four points or more from their encounter with Paddock I&C 'B' who are facing relegation themselves with just three matches remaining.
