Brockholes make big bid for promotion spot

Review of the results in Divisions 6&7 on Thursday 11 December

The battle for the second Division 6 promotion place seems to be edging the way of 2nd in the table Brockholes B after they beat the third-placed team Springwood C by 6-2 on Thursday. They also climbed closer to the leaders, Cowcliffe B, after they were surprisingly held 4-4 by Almondbury BC A and there is now only 4 points between the top two candidates. That was the first match this season that the leaders have failed to win as teams complete the first half of the season.

Despite that admirable performance by the Almondbury BC A team in taking 4 points off the leaders, they dropped two places in the table. Dropping from 4th to 6th and being overtaken by Hanging Heaton B and Outlane A. Being overtaken by both on a better Aggregate For total with all three teams on 26 points after the Outlane team beat bottom of the table Netherton Con B 6-2. Whereas Hanging Heaton B beat Springwood B 6-2 who remain in the relegation places but now a significant 6 points from safety.

The top four teams in Division 7 remain in the top four despite two of those teams failing to win their matches this week. The leaders, Kirkheaton Con B, did win and go clear at the top after their 6-2 win over New Mill C creating a four-points lead over the chasing pack of three.

That trio, now headed by Holmfirth, who move up one place after their 4-4 draw with Huddersfield Recreation Club B. The Rugby Club drop a place to third and being beaten by the Marsh Lib A side who are level on points with the two teams above them and all have aspirations towards a promotion place. Lockwood Con B passed the Recreation Club in the table after beating Broad Oak A 6-2.
