Match reports from Divisions 8&9 fixtures played on Tuesday 18 November

Meltham B team suffered the same 0-8 drubbing that the club's A team endured in the Division 2 fixture on the same day. A Black Tuesday for the club and leaving both teams in danger of dropping another level at the end of this term. The Division 8 fixture saw Mirfield B demolish the Meltham B teams chances of staying out of the reach of the bottom two teams with a first 8-0 win of the season. The Meltham team are now nearer (2 and 4-points) to the two teams below them in the table than they are to the nearest team above them (6-points).
One of the two teams below Meltham B in the table is Golcar C&BC who are intent on overcoming the 20-points start of the season penalty. However their latest result put a stop to that when they went down 2-6 to the leaders Broad oak B. That means that the Golcar side have lost twice this season already, which is the same as they lost in all of last season's title-winning season. That result kept the Broad Oak team continuing to lead this year's title chasers but there is now only a one-point gap between the top three contenders.
Lockwood Con C and Hemplow A are both one-point behind the leaders after they had a close match with Lockwood Con C running out 5-3 winners with a 50-50 aggregate draw clinching the most points for the host team. A great 8-0 win for Linthwaite Hall B over Cowcliffe C saw them climb out of the relegation places and move up two places to fifth and 8 points clear of the drop zone. That match result resulted in the Cowcliffe C team taking over the 2nd relegation place vacated by the Linthwaite Hall team.

With the top two teams in Division 9 both winning by the same 6-2 scoreline means no change in the pecking in the promotion race at present. The leaders, Greenhead Park, protected their two points lead after beating Mirfield C whilst Kirkheaton C&BC C won the Kirkheaton derby match beating the Cons Club with the same 6-2 score to hold on to second place.
Kirkheaton Con C dropped one place as a result of that defeat being overtaken by Marsh Lib B who inflicted a 6-2 defeat on Almondbury BC C and also overtaken by Kirkheaton C&BC B who beat bottom of the pile Brockholes C who are seriously adrift some 8 points behind the next team, Almondbury BC C, and 16-points from safety from relegation.
