League News
Last month all 250 leagues using the Bowlsnet system to provide results reporting, league tables, bowler averages, competition records and much more, suffered a loss of all data from 13 January 2025. This kept league officials very busy sorting out the history of results to catch-up with all the results and fixtures. Some did better than others as reported at the time.
Since then even more work has been undertaken to rescue all this season's data and half-season data lost by winter competitions. Now all eleven local leagues' records appear to be as complete as they are going to be. The two leagues reporting the most problems one week after the loss of data were the Colne Valley League and the Dearne & Don League. Since then both leagues have made considerable progress.
The Dearne & Don League appears to be fully up to date with all results and fixtures now online. The Colne Valley League is almost complete with some missing records for two teams, one in each division. Both seem to have around half of their results missing from the system.
This has been a very trying time for many leagues and has resulted in at least one league losing a senior administrative individual. The more we become reliant on technology and the big advances it brings on the admin functions of all these leagues the bigger the risk of a repeat system crash.
If a similar problem happened today are your league records safer than they were last week? A weekly one-minute job (pressing a button on the system) provides full protection of all your Bowlsnet live records. Here is why and how to do it.
