The power struggle at the top level of crown green bowling is creating a lot of divisions that may never be healed. County organisation against County organisation is a worrying development. If power gets split between two lesser bodies, where is the future for bowling in this country?

Whatever happens now it is difficult to see any National Strategy being supported by all bodies and suddenly the future of bowling looks even bleaker than it has for many years. Don't people realise that the sport has been in decline for many years and this split will only accelerate its demise and undermine any concentrated effort to take our sport and secure its future.

This is a copy of the Open Letter Position Statement issued by Derbyshire CGBA on 5th September in response to the demands set by the breakaway group of 5 counties calling itself the 'BCGBA Interim Executive Committee'. In many ways it is similar to the Yorkshire CGBA statement but provides more detail and an interesting recommendation for the BCGBA CEO to be sacked just two days before he resigned.
