BCGBA Girls Merit Final on 'ploughed field'

Bowling News

There is some unrest within the BCGBA as regards the late swap of venue for the Girls Merit Final. The original venue of Owley Park was apparently unavailable and the prestigious competition was changed to Winnington Park Recreation Club three days before the event. It wasn't just the late change of venue that upset people but the state of the green for any bowling match never mind a key Juniors Finals Day. It was likened to a ploughed field, with some justification after viewing the photographs below.

There were numerous complaints on social media websites about the green. The photographs below provide supporting evidence to all-concerned that this was a poor reflection on how the BCGBA treat their Junior competitions. In addition the same social media sites abound with complaints that there was only one ladies toilet cubicle for all the competitors and spectators to share. The BCGBA report on the competition Finals Day makes no mention of the state of the green.

Ironically the Junior Boys competition was played on the same day at Owly Park which again reflects badly on the BCGBA as to the pecking order of importance is stark for everyone to see.
