Review of the results of the Divisions 6&7 fixtures played on Thursday 6 November

There were four 6-2 winners in this week's Division 6 fixture programme and all four winners now make up the top half of the table. Brockholes B sit at the top with 12 points closely followed by Cowcliffe B on the same points total and only two Aggregate For points difference. Outlane A were on the wrong end of that 2-6 scoreline.
Despite finishing in 4th position in the same division last season, where the Brockholes B team had more match wins (10) than all the other teams other than the Champions Almondbury BC B who had 13. They look to be continuing that habit this season as they set their stall out to go better than finishing out of the promotion places this time around.
Cowcliffe B were the runaway winners of the Division 7 title last season and have an eye on making it a double with two straight wins to date which leaves the top two teams four points ahead of the chasing pack.
Playing on their home green for a fourth consecutive season the Netherton Con B team are aiming not have to play their 'Avoid Relegation' card that host clubs have been given. That would be a first time in three seasons and they have started out determined to raise the bar in their search for survival without the safety net. A 6-2 win this week over Springwood B helped keep that target well in sight.
We have two Springwood teams in Division 6 this season and the C team are level on points with their own B team. The C team have finished in third position in Division 7 for the last two seasons and I am suspicious that this is not an accident. They currently sit in that all too familiar position and have set up camp to ensure that they don't vary too much from that target.

A big win for the Division 7 leaders Huddersfield RUFC as they overcame Huddersfield Recreation Club B by 8-0 to go 4 points clear at the top. In the four fixtures to date, they have used 13 of their 20 registered bowlers with no apparent drop in standards. Their nearest challengers are Marsh Lib A who will have been disappointed to only draw 4-4 with Lockwood Con B and for both teams it was a second 4-4 draw this season.
Broad Oak A and New Mill C had a close match, they shared the aggregate scores (55-55) to produce a 5-3 win for the New Mill team. Finishing off the day was a 6-2 win for Kirkheaton Con B over Holmfirth which enabled them to hang on to 2nd place in the table.
