Review of the results from Tuesday's fixtures in Divisions 3,4&5 of the 10-Man League

The bottom three teams in Division 3 are in grave danger of being left behind to conduct their own battle to determine which two of them get relegated. Two weeks ago Springwood looked nailed on to be the first confirmed team to be relegated after losing their first six fixtures. Then something happened. They had an 8-1 home win over Kirkheaton C&BC A and then followed that up this week with a 6-3 away win over fellow strugglers Holmfirth A. They are still occupying bottom place but are now just two points off safety.
Holmfirth A and Paddock I&C are the other two candidates for the drop with the Holmfirth team not winning since the opening day of the season when they clocked up an 8-1 home win over Paddock I&C but not even a suggestion of a win since then. The Paddock team appear to have gone off the boil after winning their first two home games but nothing since and the latest being a 2-7 away surrender at the team immediately above them in the table, Kirkheaton C&BC A.
Skel Windmill dropped a place to 8th but still distanced themselves from the drop zone bottom three and extended their winning run to four by beating the table toppers, New Mill A, by 5-4. That setback for the leaders didn't dislodge them from the top spot but their lead was cut from 5 points to just one point after Linthwaite Hall beat Golcar Lib B by 8-1 for a sixth consecutive win. That result sent the Golcar team down two places to 5th to be replaced by Brockholes A, who moved up two places after a 6-3 home win over Lindley Lib B who remain 4th despite that loss.
Home advantage paid off in the mid-table clash of Slaithwaite who were 6-3 winners over Thorpe Green and both teams are nearer the top than the bottom on a points comparison.

Kirkheaton Con B regained the lead at the top of Division 4 after winning 6-3 away from home over 4th placed Thongsbridge B. However despite only losing one game all season they are are just one point ahead of Marsh Lib A and Huddersfield RUBC. Those two both suffered 2-7 defeats with Marsh Lib going down at Milnsbridge B and the Rugby Club losing at home for the first time this season to relegation-threatened Brockholes B in the shock result of the day. That outcome lifted the Brockholes team out of the relegation places to be replaced by Marsh United B who lost 2-7 away at Ravensknowle Park.
Lockwood Con B eased their relegation fears with a comfortable 7-2 away win at David Brown Sports who show little inclination to move off the foot of the table.

Netherton Con B had an important win in their quest to make an immediate return to Division 4 as they beat the current leaders, Lindley BC B by 5-4 courtesy of a 121-120 aggregate win. Now only 4 points behind the Division 5 leaders with a match in hand which they play next Tuesday. Primrose Hill Lib drop two places to 4th position after suffering a first defeat in four when losing 2-7 at Dalton and that is a setback to their intent to make a quick return to Division 4 bowling for next season.
Broad Oak B took full advantage of that by winning 6-3 at home to Almondbury BC B to move up to third place. That also saw the Almondbury team drop two places to the bottom of the table as Kirkheaton C&BC B and Greenhead both overtook them. Notably a second away win of the season for the Cricket Club side when winning 6-3 away at Marsh Lib B. Greenhead Park also had a good 6-3 home win over Hemplow B who they overtook to move out of the bottom two.
