All to play for in Division 6

Winter League

Review of the results from Division 6 of fixtures played on Thursday 22 January

A fourth 8-0 Division 6 victory for Cowcliffe B this season, this time over Hanging Heaton B, means they only need two points from their last three fixtures to secure promotion to Division 5. However they cannot add the Division 6 title to that achievement just yet as Brockholes A annoyingly continue to tag along with them after they matched their rivals' whitewash win with an 8-0 win of their own over Netherton Con B. The gap between the two title contenders remains at six points with a clash of the top two lined up for next Tuesday.

Those defeats for the bottom two teams did Springwood B's survival hopes a power of good as they won the club's derby match 6-2 to raise hopes of an early confirmation of avoiding relegation. That was a third successive 6-2 win for the Springwood side but it did no good to their C team's chances of overhauling the top two.

The mid-table clash of Outlane A against Almondbury BC A went the way of the Outlane team to overtake their rivals with a 6-2 scoreline leaving a lingering doubt about the survival chances of the Almondbury team. They have a more difficult three-match run-in to the end of the season with two top-three opponents as well as the crucial meeting with Hanging Heaton B in two weeks time. Whereas the Hanging Heaton side have to play the other three of the bottom-four opponents including the key Almondbury confrontation. Interesting times.
