Review of the Division 1 fixtures played at Milnsbridge on Wednesday 14 December
The congestion at the top of the Division 1 table makes it ripe for regular changes in the running order and so it proved again this week.
At the start of play Meltham sat proudly at the top of the table but they got hammered 8-0 by Thorpe Green 'A' who replaced them in top spot and Meltham crashed down to 5th place. There were three 8-0 scorelines in the top division and another of those went to Lower Hopton who white-washed New Millers to force their way into second place, 1 point behind the leaders.
The third 8-0 scoreline came in the Lindley derby game where the Liberal Club overwhelmed the Bowling Club to move out of the relegation zone and leave Lindley BC 'A' 13 points from safety and a strong favourite to be replaced in the top level by the club's 'B' team as things stand at present.
The one match not to have an 8-0 scoreline was where Clayton West and Kirkheaton Cons shared the points 4-4 which included our match of the day. Clayton West's Tim Poulter coming back from 5-17 down to take the two points at stake when beating 'Crafty' Cooper 21-20. The Card of the Day shows an epic contest of 32 ends which took 70 minutes to conclude. They came off the green at the same time as Allan Thompson and Lorraine Hirst in the Lower Hopton v New Millers game although that resulted in a 21-12 final scoreline.
