Dave Parkin tells me that he is helping to produce a programme for the All-Britain competition in 4 weeks time. He shares some of the statistics that he has already uncovered starting with a list of all the Yorkshire winners of the All-Britain Merit Champion since 1911.

Moving on to make comparisons of all the winners over the last 114 years.
A sample split should really be 1974 when current “Counties” were renamed by Local Government Act.
Greater Manchester & Merseyside too in 1980 & 1981 (Bits of Lancashire & Cheshire)
Cumbria became a full county in 1980 but Cumberland were on the fringes for years.
South Yorkshire first took part in 1981 when devolved from Yorkshire
North Lancs & Fylde from 1984 from Lancashire.
