Review of the Division 5 fixtures played at Netherton Con on Friday 1 December
December opened with a windless and dry day for a welcome change for the bowlers that congregate at Netherton Con every Thursday. to be greeted with the good news that the host club will be providing free pie 'a' peas on the last matchday before Christmas. The improved weather attracted a gathering of over 60 bowlers, supporters and spectators to enjoy the bowling, catch up with like-minded individuals and swap stories, old and new, about bowling and life in general. There is a good atmosphere and a growing community spirit which we have previously witnessed at other League matchdays in other locations.

Thursday was a good day for the Division 5 leaders Thorpe Green 'C', for as well as recording an 8-0 win over Springwood 'C' they were the only team in the top half of the table to win their match this week.

Almondbury BC 'B' remain the nearest challengers to the leaders after a 4-4 draw with the Rugby Club and Milnsbridge 'C' leap two places to third after a whitewash 8-0 win over Netherton Con 'B' who drop a place to 4th. The meeting of the two bottom teams went the way of Golcar C&BC as they beat Brockholes 'B' 6-2 to move up a place to sixth.
A bumper 45 photographs from this week's Netherton matchday will be online tomorrow.
