Review of the Tuesday results in Divisions 3,4&5 in the Veterans 10-Man League

The meeting of 1st and 3rd in Division 3 on Tuesday saw the leaders, New Mill A, extend their unbeaten home record to four wins when beating Brockholes A by 7-2. That damaged the Brockholes team's challenge for the title as they drop two places to fifth, six points behind the leaders. The top five teams all have the same Won-5 Lost-2 records but with eight points between them. Golcar Lib B were another top casualty as they went down 2-7 away at Lindley Lib B who moved up a place to fourth.

Linthwaite Hall took advantage of those two top five defeats to wrestle second place from the Golcar team's grasp after winning 5-4 away at Paddock I&C. A 9-0 whitewash home win for Thorpe Green over Holmfirth A sent them into the promotion mix as well and that kind of form will send worrying tremors through the other contenders. That defeat sent Holmfirth down into the relegation places but still well clear of Springwood.

Huddersfield RUBC lost 3-6 away at Ravensknowle Park and that cost them the Divison 4 leadership as they were overtaken by the Marsh Lib A team who had a fourth consecutive win when beating Huddersfield Recreation Club 8-1. Kirkheaton Con B returned to winning way with a 7-2 home win over David Brown Sports and an 8-1 away win for Thongsbridge B at Marsh United B saw them move up one place to fourth.

Another 8-1 away win came at Brockholes B where Milnsbridge B were the victors but they remain in seventh place despite that big win. A bit of a gap is emerging between the bottom four teams and the rest of the teams. That gap is now six points whilst the gap between the bottom four teams is just two points. Lockwood Con B were the only winners in the bottom four and a 6-3 home win over Meltham B lifted them two places off the bottom and out of the relegation places for now.

The Division 5 leaders, Netherton Con B were without a match this week and that cost them the leadership as Lindley BC B and Primrose Hill Lib both took advantage by registering solid home wins. The Lindley team go top courtesy of an 8-1 home win over Greenhead Park who drop two places and into the bottom two as a result. A good 6-3 home win over the threatening Marsh Lib B team saw the losers drop two places to eighth and a big setback to their hopes of joining in the promotion race.

Broad Oak B and New Mill B both failed to cash in on the leaders' week off as both went down to away defeats at Dalton and Almondbury BC B respectively. A very tight 4-5 away defeat for Hemplow B at Holmfirth B, which was mainly down to a 119-120 aggregate scoreline, saw the Hemplow team climb two places to 9th place.
