Review of the Division 3 fixtures played at Thorpe Green on Monday 12 December
Brockholes 'A' are back on the top of the Division 3 table after a 60-58 aggregate win gave them the extra points to bring up
a 6-2 scoreline in their favour over the previous leaders Huddersfield
Recreation Club 'A'.
A welcome win after three consecutive losses giving the Badgers a one-point lead at the top by 51-50 and with a single point Aggregate For (557-556) difference as well separating the top two teams.
This match also included our Card of the Day when the two bowlers at the top of the Division 3 Singles Averages played each other with Recreation Club's Trevor Atkinson beating David Walls by 21-18 which included a great, but eventually unsuccessful, fight-back by David after trailing 11-19.
Behind the top two teams quite a contest is emerging with just 2 points separating the next four teams waiting for one of the top two to falter. This week's programme saw two of those four teams meeting as Rastrick 'B' (3rd) and Paddock I&C 'A' (6th) swapped places after Paddock won the match 8-0.
Thorpe Green 'B' and Dalton being the other two teams in that prowling quartet. Dalton posted a 6-2 win over foot-of-table Springwood 'B' whilst the Thorpe Green 'B' side had to settle for a 4-4 draw against Almondbury BC 'A'. Those outcomes mean that both teams retain the same mid-table positions for another week at least but certainly still in with a shout in the promotion race.
