Veterans League
Preview of the final week of the Veterans 6-Man League season to be played on Monday 25 September
It is the final week of the Veterans 6-Man League season and there are still relegation issues in Divisions 1 and 2 to sort out. In Division 1 Elland C&BC are already relegated and will be joined by either Longwood or Crosland Moor. Both of these teams have last-day away fixtures to negotiate.
Longwood are 3 points behind their rivals and have to play at Golcar C&BC who have won all 10 of their home matches this season and need 6 points from the match to clinch the runners-up position.
Crosland Moor go to Shepley who have already relinquished the Championship title they have held for the last two years. It would be a significant achievement for Longwood to escape relegation from this position.
Marsh United 'A' will be able to celebrate their title-winning season with a final day home match against Milnsbridge 'A'.
The focus in Division 2 is also at the foot of the table as two of the bottom three teams will be relegated after the last round of matches on Monday.
Linthwaite Hall need to win their last fixture at home to Clayton West to send Skel Windmill 'B' and Denby Dale through the relegation trapdoor. The 4 points for a win would put them out of reach but should they not do so then Skel Windmill 'B' need a big win at Paddock I&C to give them a chance of staying up.
It is difficult to see a scenario where Denby Dale escape relegation but it is still mathematically possible but highly unlikely. That can only pan out if they beat their final day visitors from Holmfirth 'A' by 7-0 and hope that Linthwaite Hall get beaten 0-7. Even then they are dependent on Skel Windmill 'B' not collecting more than 3 points from their last match.
The two Lindley Lib teams played each other on Friday with the 'A' team winning 5-2 to confirm the runners-up place and promotion from Division 2.
One round of fixtures left to play in Division 5 with the title and 2nd promotion place already claimed by New Mill and Marsh Lib respectively, congratulations to both teams.
